Meet the Doctors

Gretchen Henson, DDS

Dr. Gretchen Henson grew up in the Valley. She began her dental career as an assistant in a pediatric office at age 15, which explains her love for working with children. Dr. Henson is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a BS degree in Health Sciences & Alternative Medicine. She graduated from the University of Colorado with her dental degree (DDS) and post-doctoral training in pediatrics, rural health care and HIV and AIDS patients. Dr. Henson continues her dental education by attending hundreds of hours of continuing education courses each year in all areas of dentistry.

Dr. Henson participates in numerous community events each year and is a volunteer for the CASS Dental Clinic for the Homeless. She is also a regular volunteer for Head Start, Special Olympics and Give Kids a Smile Day. In addition, Dr. Henson works with the state dental association as a mentor for new dentists. Dr. Henson has also accepted an appointment for a part-time faculty position with the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.

Don't be surprised if you see Dr. Henson running around town as she completed the P.F. Chang's Rock and Roll Half Marathon in 2004 along with our hygienist, Lynnette, and Ellen from the front office.

Howard Snider, DMD

Dr. Howard Snider was born in Los Angeles, California and graduated from U.C.L.A. He went on to attend Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated with a degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

He has been providing high quality dental care to families in the Phoenix valley for over twenty years. Dr. Snider has had extensive training in high-tech metal-free dentistry and has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in bonded cosmetic dentistry. He continues with educational classes every year so that he may bring back to his patients the very latest that dentistry has to offer year in and year out. He currently is a member of the American Dental Association, Arizona State Dental Association, and the California State Dental Society.

Dr. Snider is a sports enthusiast and loves baseball, hiking, and running.

What's the difference between a DDS and a DMD?

The DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. The difference is a matter of semantics. The majority of dental schools award the DDS degree; however, some award a DMD degree. The education and degrees are the same.
