Dr. Gretchen Henson grew up here in the Valley and began her dental career as an assistant in a pediatric dental office at 15 years old. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Dr. Henson has a BS degree in Health Sciences & Alternative Medicine and a minor in Chemistry. She graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry (DDS) with post-doctoral training in Pediatrics, Public Health and HIV & AIDS patients. She has also completed training for special needs patients at the Gompers Center. Dr. Henson is continuing her dental education by attending the Kois Center in Seattle and by attending hundreds of hours of continuing education courses throughout the country each year in all areas of dentistry. Dr. Henson is very active in our community and the growth of Phoenix. She is a regular volunteer for the CASS Dental Clinic for the Homeless and was named their Volunteer of the Year for 2006. She is also a volunteer for Head Start, Special Olympics, and Give Kids a Smile Day. Dr. Henson also volunteers her time at the Arizona Dental Association. Currently, she is a delegate for the dental association, is the Chair of the Membership Council and is one of three members of the Associate Placement Program. Dr. Henson is adjunct faculty for the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health junior and senior dental students. She is part of the school’s mentorship program and also lectures dental students in dental practice management. Dr. Henson is one of the few private practice dentists to be a member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Henson is also involved in the revitalization of downtown Phoenix. She is active with the downtown homeowner’s association and contributes to the theater and the arts. Don't be surprised if you see Dr. Henson running around town as she complete various local athletic events. She participates in running and hiking events including the P.F. Chang's Rock and Roll Half Marathon and Hike for Discovery’s hike of the Grand Canyon. Dr. Henson personally reads and responds to each email; please feel free to email your comments or questions.
